태양이라는 이름의 별 곁에 세 번째 행성 지구에 온 것을 환영한다. 지구는 거의 대부분 암석으로 구성된 둥근 행성이다. 지구 표면의 70퍼센트가 물이다. 이 행성은 거의 질소와 산소로 구성된 상대적으로 얇은 대기권을 갖고 있다. 푸른 구슬이라는 별명이 붙은 위 지구의 사진은 1972년 아폴로 17호가 아프리카와 남극 대륙을 보면서 촬영한 것이다. 지금까지 가장 널리 퍼진 사진 중 하나일 것이다. 지구는 그 1/4 크기인 하나의 거대한 달을 갖고 있고, 지구 표면에서 보면 태양과 거의 같은 겉보기 크기로 보인다. 물이 풍부한 덕분에 지구에는 돌고래와 사람과 같은 지적 생명체를 포함해 다양한 생물 종이 살고 있다. 행성 지구에서 편안하게 머무르기를 바란다.

Explanation: Welcome to planet Earth, the third planet from a star named the Sun. The Earth is shaped like a sphere and composed mostly of rock. Over 70 percent of the Earth’s surface is water. The planet has a relatively thin atmosphere composed mostly of nitrogen and oxygen. The featured picture of Earth, dubbed The Blue Marble, was taken from Apollo 17 in 1972 and features Africa and Antarctica. It is thought to be one of the most widely distributed photographs of any kind. Earth has a single large Moon that is about 1/4 of its diameter and, from the planet’s surface, is seen to have almost exactly the same angular size as the Sun.
